We’re coming to the end of another great year for Flippin’ Pain.
We’ve continued to improve how we deliver our pain science education this year. As always, we’ve committed to making it fun, engaging and accessible for all.
Not only did we have our biggest Community Outreach Tour to date, but we’ve introduced new formats, topics and features to our roster:
• In July, we delivered our first full workshop for health professionals in the Isle of Man
• You can watch Flippin’ Fibromyalgia on YouTube
• You can also watch our experts answer frequently asked questions around Arthritis, Fibromyalgia and persistent pain as a whole
• Please subscribe to our new accounts on LinkedIn and TikTok!
The reach of Flippin’ Pain has never been higher. This year, we’ve seen record numbers of:
• Events (6 online, 23 in-person)
• YouTube views (36,091)
• Flippin’ Pain Formula Podcast plays (2,595)
• Website users (21,574)
• Fundraising for Pain Concern (£7,873)
• Media coverage, featuring the amazing stories of our panellists.
We’ve also spent a lot of time evaluating our impact this year. Everyone who joins us for an event is now asked to fill out an optional survey. From these surveys, we’ve found that:
• 76% significantly reduced their inaccurate biomedical beliefs about pain after attending one of our events.
• 73% of those taking long-term opioids were open to reducing them after the event (up from 42%).
• 77% of people with persistent pain felt ‘mostly able’ or ‘very able’ to self manage after attending an event (up from 67%).
• 96% would recommend our events to friends, family and colleagues.
We know that these surveys don’t present a picture of the weeks, months and years to come: but we will continue to develop our evaluation and catch up with people later on in their journey. Our approach was also referenced this year in the Journal of Pain, and 2024 will see more work with researchers to evaluate our impact.
We’d like to thank all of our supporters and partners for 2023 and can’t wait for what 2024 brings!
